2. Written by fedup on December 13, 2011 from wallingford, connecticut, US Well, my situation is a little different. Had a loan with Sovereign Bank, Santander moved on in. Ran into financial difficulties and ended up filing bankruptcy and was discharged in May. Early August I got a lovely letter from Santander thanking me for paying my loan in full. I figure this is an operation of the bankruptcy. In early September, right about the time Irene plowed through my home state, I get a copy of title with lien release signed. Of course, in the ensuing confusion, I lose the title with the lien release. In late November I get a call from my dad, recovery agent was at their house looking for my car at 10:30 p.m. A couple of weeks later @ 2:30 a.m. my son yells down to me that my car is about to be towed. Apparently some moron @ Santander applied a payoff to the wrong account. Rather than sending me a letter stating that they had made an error and requesting that I contact them to discuss a payment arrangement to address payments not made during pendency of or since discharge of bankrutpcy, they just push a few buttons and order the car repossessed. Now they refuse to return the car without payment of all past due payments, late feees and interest. Here's the real kicker,my credit report shows the loan having been paid in full in 2009. I'll deal with my *** bankruptcy attorney some point. In the meantime, I am working with another attorney because he and I both firmly believe that they have violated more than a few laws. Then I find out that Santander is in trouble, not only for their practices in servicing loans but also relating to their practices in extending and denying credit. Let more games begin.

4. Written by Marilyn104 on November 4, 2011 from san jose, california, US Has anyone been successful in suing Santander? Has 20-20 or 60 minutes responded? I have a loan with them (bought from another company) I just found out alot if not all of my payment is going to interest if not made by the due date - no grace period (which I had with the company my loan originated with). At the end of this loan I will actually owe them thousands! If you have a suit in CA or know how we can start one, please let me know.

7. Written by Vadim on August 20, 2011 from sussex, new jersey, US I had exactly the same situation as Unclemike. I am down to the last payment and now suddenly they did not make the automatic payment. Their lousy customer service claimed that since the last payment was smaller than the usual payment (true), somehow the automatic payment stopped. I sent a postal money order via certified mail. USPS claims they delivered the letter four days ago, and I have no reason not to believe them. I did not, however, get the return green postcard yet. Tried to call those clowns at santander and no answer. I would love to join a class suit against them.
8. Written by BRENDA GRAFF on July 26, 2011 from lagrange, georgia, US I am an Investigative Reporter in Georgia and my car that was owned by Drive (Santander) was repoed at 3am this morning after I had just paid over $2,000 between May and June to get caught up. I called to find out what the problem was and they stated I was 100 days past due. In other words, rather then post my payments to the present months they were putting it as if I had not made any payments in 100 days! And charged me over $700 in fees!! I had gotten late back in January when I was out of work, but have been paying since every month. These people and their collections department are vicious even calling my 89 yr old father-in-law 50 x's a day. They will stop at nothing. I have been paying on this car for 5 yrs and now have lost everything I put into it. They have now possibly cost me my job!
9. Written by Karen Ruiz on July 21, 2011 from walnut creek, california, US I recently refinanced my car loan thru my credit union. as all of you experienced, I was also surprised when I recd the first bill from Santander 10/2010.no notice went out from Citifinancial nor a notice from Santander informing us of the loan transfer or Citifinancial being bought out. to make a long story short, Santander incurred "other fees" to my auto loan on top of the $10.95 the charge for processing a payment via online, phone.my balance of $25,104 and some change hasn't changed since 10/2010 granted I missed 2 mos of payment and was supposed to have been on an "extension." the past 2 months I paid $685 and $630 only to see on my online acct that all of it got applied to interest and other fees. they lack customer service skills and even BBB of Dallas Tx could not take any further action against them as they are not a member!!! Some people who support Santander's questionable business practices say it's our fault for having bad credit..well my response, my credit isn't that bad and I am very responsible.it's businesses like Santander who take advantage of disadvantaged customers and the lack of documentation on their end that ruins a person's credit. They still haven't credited my account with a payment I made thru ebill pymnt from my bank and even after telling them that I had refinanced (keeping in mind the one payment of $254 that they refuse to credit me even after faxing them a copy of my bank statements) they continue to call my and my husband's cells numerous times a day. I was fortunate enough to have been approved for refinancing thru my credit union. for those who are not as fortunate to get approved for another loan, I feel sorry for and empathize with. There must be something that can be done to have Santander reprimanded for the way they just drag everyone's credit and livelihood down the drain by imposing high daily interests, imposing other fees without a specific description and on top of their late fees and whatever fees they want to add on to the original bill. one advice, asking to speak with a supervisor doesn't get anything done nor sending statements from your bank to prove that you made the payment. I honestly believe that they don't even really review anything. also, when asking for a due date change, be aware that they can only do the change 29 days from date you called to make the request.nobody told me this when I called on 3/29/11 and requested for 5/1/11 due date to be changed to 5/17/11(citifinancial auto due date was on the 17th and i wanted to keep it on the 17th to help me manage our finances better). well after they finally approved the due date change after I placed multiple calls starting 10/2010, they changed my due date from 5/1/11 to 4/17/11. i hate Santander's business practice with a passion and they need to be slapped with a big class action lawsuit. they don't do business fair nor are they honest with their policies, there's no confirmation of anything sent out. my email
10. Written by Fran on July 12, 2011 from lafayette, louisiana, US Why did Citifinancial sell? Are they in trouble? If so, I'm not surprise! Birds of a feather, flocks together. Citi and Momentum Audi told me that they couldn't sell me disability insurance b/c my car was too expensive. They're all crooks if you ask me. I'm angry with Citi! ![]()
